Mary Jane Weaver and Kirsten Schlenger met with other members of boutique law firms from around the globe at the 6th Annual Meeting of The International Network of Boutique Law Firms (INBLF), an organization with over 300 member firms worldwide. This invitation-only organization is comprised of law firms that focus on a particular area of law and attorneys who have risen to the top of their respective legal disciplines. The meeting was held in Colorado Springs, Colorado on October 23 - 25.

Partner Laura J. Mazel and Associate Attorney Lisa I. Baker spoke at the 2009 American Immigration Lawyers Association California Chapters Conference in Marina Del Rey on November 12-14.  Laura’s presentation covered issues related to the Department of Labor’s PERM Labor Certification process, focusing on current strategies and pitfalls for the employer-sponsored PERM in the context of Reductions in Force and supervised recruitment.  Lisa reviewed legal challenges and creative alternatives for the long-pending Adjustment of Status applicant.

Associate Stephanie Smith attended the O & P Visa forum at the California Service Center on Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Stephanie had the opportunity to hear about changes in current O-1 adjudication practices and new requirements for these important visas from Service Center Adjudicators and Directors. She also stayed on for the California Service Center stakeholders meeting, where Barbara Velarde, Chief of Service Center Operations for USCIS national, spoke about current national service center priorities and procedures.

For the sixth year in a row, Kirsten Schlenger has been named a Northern California “Super Lawyer” by her peers in the immigration field.  Additionally, associate Lisa Baker is listed as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers 2009.
