The U.S. Department of Labor handles the processing of the labor condition application (LCA) that is required as part of the H-1B (specialty occupation) temporary work visa petition, as well as the processing of the modified labor certification that is required for the H-2A (temporary/seasonal agricultural) and H-2B (temporary service in short supply) work visas.

 

In addition, the Department of Labor handles the adjudication of both the regular and special handling PERM labor certifications, and the adjudication of labor certifications filed under the former Reduction in Recruitment (RIR) system.
