Immigration Updates for Summer 2006

H-1B Advanced Degree Exemption
There is still some availability to obtain new H-1B visas for foreign nationals with U.S. Master’s degrees or higher – about 8,000 visas remain. With June graduations, however, we anticipate demand for these visas. Recruiters and hiring managers should be in close contact with HR and immigration counsel during the summer.

US CIS Reports FY 2007 Cap Reached

As we previously predicted, the run on H-1B visas has come to a close in late spring. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that the FY 2007 H-1B cap has been reached as of May 26, 2006, and that it will not accept petitions filed after that date.
