Weaver, Schlenger & Mazel applauds our managing partner, Kirsten Schlenger, for her tenacity and effective strategic planning on a national level during the Adjustment of Status debacle this last month.  Kirsten has served as a Trustee of the Board of the American Immigration Law Foundation (AILF) for more than seven years.   Her unceasing commitment and dedication to this non-profit organization derives from her passion for justice in the immigration system.  Throughout the years, Kirsten has successfully helped AILF raise significant funds to maintain and expand AILF’s critical work.

Kirsten Schlenger, Partner at Weaver, Schlenger & Mazel, in a letter to the editor published in the April 2007 edition of “California Lawyer,” expressed her disappointment with “government officials [who forgot] their professional and human responsibilities” to the “starry-eyed [immigrant] who believes that America is the land of freedom and respect for human rights.”  She held that she supports any effort “that shines light on the flaws in a system that continues to permit such attacks on fundamental fairness.”

"The Wall" Builds More Problems Than It Stops

As 2007 begins and Congress works to throw every possible impediment in the way of real immigration reform, I find myself pondering the creation of "The Wall." For those who haven't followed the national debate on immigration as avidly as I have, the one piece of legislation actually enacted during the past year provides for construction of a 700-mile-long barrier along our southern border.
